In partnership with Africa 21, PARM has launched on 26 September 2023, the call for applications “PARM STORIES CHALLENGE”, inviting journalists and media professionals to create a compelling video that highlights the stories of rural farmers who have developed innovative initiatives to manage agricultural risks and enhance their own resilience, contributing to the sustainability of agri-food systems. The winner will benefit from a field visit to gain direct experience of the projects/activities of the United Nations in agricultural risk management. The first three winning videos will also be presented during an international event as well as the winning journalists.

Every day, smallholder farmers face multiple risks, yet they produce one-third of the world’s food. Building their resilience is key to food security and improvement of the livelihoods of these Farming Champions. On the occasion of the celebration of #WorldFoodDay and the International #RuralWomenDay, PARM has launched the PARM Stories Challenge, after the success of the PARM Art Challenge 2021-2022 in its quest to continuously raise awareness on the urgency of building farmers’ resilience to adapt to and manage risks in agriculture and build sustainable agri-food systems.

More than a competition, the PARM Stories Challenge is a unique opportunity for journalists and media professionals to express their own style of storytelling by creating a video that portrays rural farmers’ self-resilience to agricultural risks and showcases how this could be strengthen in order to increase their productivity and sustainable agri-food systems, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
