Managed by PARM, IFAD’s INSURED programme (Insurance for Rural Resilience and Economic Development) works to build the resilience of small-scale producers on the front line of the climate crisis. It aims to increase their ability to manage climate risks and to strengthen their livelihoods.
INSURED supports the roll-out of insurance schemes linked to agricultural development and financial inclusion and provides tailored training and expertise. It is a demand-driven programme that works through the IFAD portfolio and cooperates with governments, development partners and the private sector. It makes the case for insurance to de-risk agricultural value chains and stabilize rural economies.
Since work started in 2018, INSURED has been active in 13 core countries (see map below).

INSURED is a US$6 million programme funded by Sida and implemented by the multi-donor Platform for Agricultural Risk Management (PARM).
