This report provides a comprehensive and in-depth overview of the key milestones achieved by PARM in 2024.
In response to a growing number of requests for PARM’s technical assistance, from governments, private sector companies, donors, and farmers’ organizations, 2024 was marked by significant milestones and achievements at national, regional, and global levels. PARM successfully designed four investment projects in Burundi, Ghana, Madagascar, and Tunisia, and conducted agricultural value chain risk assessments for eight value chains across these countries, including maize, rice, rabbit, tomato, soybean, poultry, cereal, and olive oil. In addition, the Platform developed 26 Agricultural Risk Management (ARM) tools, which comprise agricultural insurance, agroecology, hydroponics practices, capacity development, market and weather information systems, collective water management, digitalization (e.g., digitalized rural savings), rural savings incentives, inputs supply systems, and local advisory services.
PARM and its partners built the capacities of over 3,200 stakeholders (66% women) including IFAD project teams and beneficiaries in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Madagascar, and Tunisia. A key highlight was the successful institutionalization pilot project, which led to the creation of seven ARM curricula: three master’s programs and four academic modules in Burkina Faso and Madagascar.
Looking ahead, PARM is preparing to scale up its impact through the upcoming Horizon 3 (2026–2030) programme phase. This new chapter will deepen our mission to enhance resilience, equity, and sustainability in food systems, while de-risking investments across both public and private sectors.
