Abstract

Majority of Nigeriens live in the Sahelian zone where rainfall is very variable from year to year. The economy is also poorly diversified; marked by the predominance of the agricultural sector, highly dependent on rain-fed schemes and confronted with several food crises and diversity of risks.

In 2016, PARM finalized a Risk Assessment Study (RAS) for Niger. The report presents a comprehensive mapping and assessment of agricultural risks identified in Niger through a holistic approach. It also provides data and information on priority risks and impacts as well as the existing policies and tools to improve agricultural risk management (ARM) in the country.
